SkinCashier vs Steam Market

The Steam Market is Valve's own marketplace, but the money stays on Steam. SkinCashier buys your skins and pays you money you can withdraw.

Why sellers look for a Steam Market alternative

The Steam Market is run by Valve and Market sales are final. It just can't turn your skins into money.

  • The money stays on Steam

Valve says Wallet funds can't be withdrawn or transferred to a bank or a third-party account, and its subscriber agreement says they have no cash value.

  • About 15% in fees

Buyers pay a 5% Steam fee plus a 10% game fee for CS2, Dota 2 and TF2 on top of your price, so you get about 87% of what they pay. The Steam fee is at least $0.01, so cheap items lose a bigger share.

  • A $2,000 wallet cap

You can't list an item if the sale would push your wallet past $2,000, and one listing can't go above about $1,800.

  • Rules before you can sell

You need Steam Guard on for 15 days and a purchase older than 7 days but less than a year old, and new devices or password resets block the Market for a while.

How fast you get paid

  1. Sign in with Steam

Through Steam's own login page. Add your trade URL once and you're set.

  2. See your price

Every item gets an offer straight away. No listing, no waiting for a buyer.

  3. Accept the trade

Our bot sends the trade offer. You confirm it in the Steam app.

  4. Withdraw

Pick PayPal or crypto. Payouts are sent automatically, not from a manual queue.

CS2 items: Steam lets the sender reverse a CS2 trade for 7 days (trade protection), on every site. We release the money as soon as that period ends. Rust, Dota 2 and TF2 items are paid right after the trade.

Is selling on the Steam Market worth it?

It's safe, since Valve runs it and Market sales are final. But you get Steam Wallet funds, not money.

If you want to spend the money on games and items on Steam anyway, the Market is fine. If you want cash, you have to sell somewhere that pays out, like SkinCashier.

Which one should you use?

Pick SkinCashier if

  • You want money in PayPal or crypto, not Steam Wallet funds.
  • Your wallet is near the $2,000 cap, or the item is worth more than about $1,800.
  • You don't want to list items and wait for a buyer.

Stay with Steam Market if

  • You'll spend the money on Steam games and items anyway.
  • You want to sell to Steam's own buyers and are happy to wait for your price.
  • You'd rather not deal with any third-party site.

No. Valve says Steam Wallet funds can't be withdrawn or transferred to a bank or a third-party account. To get money for skins, you have to sell them on a site that pays out, like SkinCashier.

A 5% Steam transaction fee plus a 10% game fee for CS2, Dota 2 and TF2. The buyer pays the fees on top of your price, so you get about 87% of what the buyer pays.

Yes. Your Steam Wallet is capped at $2,000, you can't list an item that would push it past that, and a single listing can't go above about $1,800.

Valve requires Steam Guard to be on for 15 days and a purchase more than 7 days and less than a year old. A new device can't use the Market for 7 days (unless you've had the Mobile Authenticator for 7 days). A password reset blocks it for 5 days (30 if the account was inactive for over two months), and removing the authenticator for 15 days.

SkinCashier buys your items itself and pays out real money to PayPal or crypto. CS2 items are paid when Steam's 7-day trade protection ends, Rust, Dota 2 and TF2 items right after the trade.
